Skin Papillomas
What are they?
Skin papillomas represent benign tumor formations, pediculate (with a small implantation base) of the skin color or hyperpigmented. They can be localized in any area of the body, especially at the level of the cervical region (throat), in the folds of Flexy, upper torso and axillary. Skin papillomas can also be localized to the genital mucosa, oral, and digestive tract. Depending on the causal agent and tumor evolution, surgical treatment and postoperative surveillance is imperative.
Papillomas are often known as warts (in the rural community).
Besides aesthetic discomfort, depending on the localization, they can also cause an irritative symptomatology.

Causes
The incidence of skin papilmas increases with age (being more commonly found in adults), in the past unknown is a specific causal factor.
Currently known acute or chronic infection with Strains of HPV virus (usually low-risk strains-which cause The appearance of benign tumor formations), and in 2008 the German Virusologist Harald zur Hausen received the award Nobel in medicine and physiology for the discovery of some strains of HPV – Human Papilloma Virus-(6, 18, 31.33, 35, 39, 45, 51.52, 56, 58, 59, 68, 73, 82) high risk for cervical cancer. Of these Considerations in the appearance of papillomas in the vaginal mucosa, larynx Or conjunctives should be thoroughly investigated and timely. In the evolution of Papillomas to precancerous lesions and subsequently to malignancy is necessary Approximately 10-30 years.

Associated symptoms may vary depending on location and dimensions from non-existent, to aesthetic and functional deficiency of irritative character (the patient cannot dress clothes on the body because it embarrates it or cannot achieve the adduction-near the arm of Trunk). If they suffer minor trauma they can inflame or even break, triggering pain, bleeding, or evolution with cellular proliferation and tumor growth.
Treatment
The treatment focuses on two major directions:
- Nonsurgical – when the skin papilmas are small and their removal does not cause an enlarged cutaneous defect-through skin solutions available in pharmacies recommended by dermatologists or plastic surgeons, electrocauterization or Cryotherapy (both are the thermal treatment of lesions by burning or freezing). Their excision can also be achieved with the laser (by using a high luminous energy applied to the Formatiune),
- Surgical – by excision with the scalpel in the case of large-size papilmas. Cutaneous repair is done by direct suture, local flap or other plasters that the plastic surgeon believes can accomplish, for a desirable aesthetic appearance.
It is recommended to consult a specialist physician before treating papillomas at home, by your own initiative. Although they have a characteristic patognomonic aspect, skin papillomas may sometimes look like other tumor formations of another cause. Differential diagnosis can only be done by the specialist.
Postoperative recovery is immediate. Excisions in general are practiced under local anesthesia. As a result, the patient does not stay admitted in the hospital, and can resume his daily activity. However, he/she must follow the recommendations of the physician (reevaluation, monitoring and possibly genotyping/screening Hpv).
